Homey’s Adventures Too – Chapter 32 – Real First Date

First and foremost, thank you to all who have read my past blog posts and my book, “Homey’s Adventures.”

As promised, I am continuing the series of all the chapters of my new book, “Homey’s Adventures Too.” I am now 71 and I decided that I did not want to spend my time haggling with editors, literary agents, and publishers. The main thing I am interested in is to write for your pleasure and mine. We have reached the last chapter. So, without further delay, here is Chapter 32:

Chapter 32 – Real First Date

In Chapter 26, I told you that I gave you everything you need to guess the ending of this book. In my first book, I had a surprise ending and it was a fantasy. I still talk to Andy. She is one of the sweetest people I know. I hope I have not disappointed you, but this is not a surprise ending. My Xena is the real thing.

In Chapter 27, I told you, my reader, about my fantasy first romantic date with Xena. I then told you about her fantasy erotic first date with me. Homey’s Adventures have always included my fantasies and real encounters with the women of my dreams. More importantly, Homey’s Adventures is about love, all kinds of love.

Out of brotherly love, I needed to make reservations for my brother’s birthday dinner. Out of love for my perfect woman, Xena, I needed to introduce her to a new world starting at the Las Vegas airport.

For my first objective, I have learned a hotel concierge is best suited for recommending restaurants. After some consultation, the concierge booked Giada’s for us. I did not make the connection at the time, but Giada’s is owned by Giada De Laurentiis.

At one time Las Vegas was famous for cheap food. It is hard to find cheap food these days in Las Vegas unless you go to a fast-food restaurant. Before Covid-19, buffets were popular. For this trip, fast food or high-end expensive food were the only options.

I found my brother at his favorite Keno machine. I let him know we had reservations for dinner, and I needed to go pick up Xena at the airport. I went to the Mirage gift shop to pick up something to present to Xena. I found a sequined pink pull over shirt that displayed what Vegas was all about, glitter and show.

I fought my way through the Las Vegas traffic to the airport. To be honest, I do not know how the cabbies tolerate this all day every day! I found my way to the luggage turnstile for her flight. I was early. I did not want her to feel lost. I waited with my glitter and pink gift in my hands for the woman of my dreams.

I saw her walking towards the turnstile. My heart started beating a million times a minute. She was more beautiful than I could ever imagine. I waved at her. We started with purpose towards one another.

She did not hesitate and kissed me squarely on the mouth. I kissed her back with all the passion I could muster. I am a sap and tears of joy came to my eyes.

“Darling, how was your trip? I love you! Look, I got you a welcome gift for Las Vegas.”

My excitement gushed all over her.

“Thank you dear. My trip was good but long. Let us get my luggage and I will tell you all about it.”

“Of course, darling. I am just so excited and happy to finally meet you!

She smiled calmly and said: “I feel the same way.”

I never know how women can be so composed at times like this. God gave them this trait. Men tend to stumble around with excitement like puppy dogs.

We picked up her luggage and found Edger II patiently waiting in the parking garage for us. I loaded Edger II and opened the passenger door for Xena. As we drove back to the Mirage, I could tell she was wide eyed looking at Vegas.

“Darling, I have reservations for my brother’s birthday dinner in a couple of hours. Let us check you in to your room so that you can get a nap before dinner.”

Xena was going to have to adjust to Las Vegas time. In Kiev, it was in the middle of the night.

“I napped on the plane dear, but I will need to freshen up and get ready for dinner.”

“Of course, dear, you take whatever time you need.”

We checked her in. I walked up to her room with her and helped her unpack.

“Darling, I know this may be a little overwhelming. How about I get ready for dinner and leave you to take this all in?”

She grabbed me again and kissed me. Some things are better left unsaid. I kissed her back. I knew I loved her, and we were just confirming it.

I went back my room and my brother, and I got ready for dinner.

My brother and I went to pick up Xena and she greeted us in a gorgeous white lace dress. My brother’s jaw dropped. I already knew Xena was incredibly beautiful, and my heart filled with pure love.

We all walked in silence to Giada’s. My brother and I stunned by Xena beauty. Xena was wide eyed and taking in the amazing sights and sounds of Vegas.

Giada’s was in the Cromwell casino. I had not been inside this building since it was the Imperial Palace Casino. Many years ago, I was kicked out of the Imperial Palace for counting cards during a blackjack game. The Imperial Palace was an independent old Las Vegas style casino. The Cromwell was completely renovated by Ceasar’s as a stand-alone boutique hotel. The décor reminded me of an early 20th century cruise ship like you see in the Titanic movie. POSH is the best word for it meaning elegant and stylish.

Posh comes from the first letters of the phrase “port out, starboard home,” which designated the most desirable accommodations on a steamship voyage from England to India and back.

After we were seated in Giada’s, the waiter brought our menus and ask what we wanted to start drinking. My brother ordered a glass of red wine. Xena and I held off until we knew what we were going to eat. My brother started to tell Xena my childhood stories. It was his birthday and I allowed him some leeway. I looked at the menu. Wow! It looked like they were going charge for everything including bread and butter separately. I quickly googled Giada’s on my phone and that was when I realized the restaurant was owned by the famous TV chef and granddaughter of movie icon Dino De Laurentiis.

Giada De Laurentiis an Italian-American chef, writer, and television personality. She was the host of Food Network‘s Giada at Home. She also appears regularly as a contributor and guest co-host on NBC‘s Today. De Laurentiis is the founder of the catering business GDL Foods. She is a winner of the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lifestyle Host and the Gracie Award for Best Television Host. I was looking for good Italian food. I did not realize I was getting famous Italian food.

I turned my attention to my brother who was on his third childhood story, and I cut in: “You know brother, Xena is a family relationship counselor. You might want to quit while we are ahead.”

Xena laughed: “Aww, I enjoy hearing about you as a little boy.”

The waiter came back and I asked: “Is this restaurant owned by Giada De Laurentiis?”

“Yes, she is not here today, but you would know her. She is only about this tall.”

He motioned with his hand about halfway up his chest. He was a tall waiter, but Giada was short.

I continued with questions: “How good is the veal?”

“Sorry sir, we are all out of the veal.”

The only thing else I saw on the menu which appealed to me was the chicken.

“Is the Italian fried chicken good?”

“Yes sir. It is marinated in a sauce similar to a Bloody Mary drink.”

I consulted with Xena, and my brother and we ordered a salad to start, spaghetti with cream sauce and the Italian fried chicken. My brother and I had steak for breakfast and fried chicken seemed to be the best choice. Xena with all her grace went along with our choices.

All the food was good, and I let the waiter know it was my brother’s birthday and Xena’s birthday yesterday. The service was slow, and I noticed a shortage of staff. Usually, in a high-end restaurant, you have busboys and waiters stumbling all over you. The Covid-19 stimulus plan paid people to stay home. A busboy could collect over $41,000 year by doing nothing. I felt sorry for the restaurant industry.

Our waiter came out with chocolate cheesecake for desert with a little sign printed on chocolate saying happy birthday.

I had ordered white wine for Xena, and I. I raised my glass in toast: “Here is to two people I love, and I will love for the rest of my life.”

Our waiter came with bill. We just ate a $400 including tip chicken dinner. It was good, but it was a chicken dinner!

My brother asked: “So, how much was it?”

“It was $400 including the tip.”

He exclaimed: “Holy crap!”

Xena exclaimed: “I could eat for a month back in the Ukraine on that!”

“I am going to repeat myself. I love you both very much.”

We worked our way back to the Mirage.

My brother offered: “I would like to play some more Keno.”

“Are you sure? I want to take Xena on a tour down to the Bellagio fountains. Why don’t you come along?”

Xena joined in: “Yes, please come with us.”

My brother explained: “I had an enjoyable day brother, but I think I will relax in front of my favorite Keno machine.”

“it’s your birthday. It will be over in a couple of hours.”

My brother smiled: “I didn’t tell you that I celebrate my birthday for 3 days?”

Xena and I laughed. I wanted my brother to be happy on his birthday, but I also wanted to have a romantic walk with my perfect woman.

Xena and walked hand in hand down Las Vegas boulevard. We talked about nothing. We talked about everything. I occasionally pointed out things of interest and she was wowed by the sights and sounds of Las Vegas. I directed her to what I knew was a good spot to view the Bellagio fountains. After 8 PM until midnight, the fountains erupted every 15 minutes. We caught the last one just before midnight. We turned to each other with the music in the background.

I pulled her towards me and whispered in her ear: “I am in love with you.”

I then kissed her with the most passionate kiss I could ever muster.

I walked her back to her room and again kissed her sweetly on the lips: “Goodnight darling, sweet dreams.”

She responded: “I had a wonderful time tonight. Sweet dreams.”

“I had an amazing time tonight. You are my perfect woman!”

I walked back to my room, and I opened the door and discovered my brother half naked with a stacked brunette sitting on the end of his bed.

“Ah. Oh. I see you found another birthday present!”

I exited quickly and went back to Xena’s room. I knocked and identified myself.

She opened the door looking puzzled: “You’re back.”

“My brother found another birthday present in the form of a 5-foot 9-inch brunette. I was wondering if I could sleep here tonight?”

She pulled me into her room and scolded me: “Look mister. Do you think I sent you those erotic love letters so that I could spend my night alone!”

I did not miss a beat: “Homey and I belong to you darling.”

Xena made good on her love letters. They say a man wants an Angel by day and a devil at night. Xena was no devil that night, but for Homey it was heaven on earth.

The end.

Thank you to all who have read this book. As promised, I plan to write a sequel to the happy ending of my first book. God bless you all.

I liken myself to the Vienna Violinist described in chapter 5 of Homey’s Adventures Too. I play (write) for your enjoyment and mine. I hope and pray that you had a wonderful Easter and God bless you all.
