Honor Thy Father – A Homey’s Adventure – Chapter 3

First and foremost, thank you to all who have read my past blog posts and my book, “Homey’s Adventures.”

As promised, I am writing this book as a sequel to the happy ending of my first book. I just started writing this book, but in honor of the coming Father’s Day, I decided to share this with you. So, without delay here is Chapter 3 of my third book:

Chapter 3 – Fatherhood

 My dad was a father when he went on his first mission over Japan. He did not know for sure until June of the same year when my brother was born. My dad was flying a bombing mission over Japan the day my brother was born.

He joked with my brother: “The first time I saw you, you were in bed with my wife.

I can remember one of the best days of my life was when my daughter was born. They handed her to me right after she came out. I was the third person to hold her, the doctor, the nurse, and then me!

It brings tears my eyes every time I think of that moment. She looked up at me with those big eyes and then she pursed her lips indicating she was hungry. I guarantee that if my tits could give her milk, they belonged to her. In fact, I knew at that moment she could have everything I owned. I was in love with my new daughter, and I knew my love for her would never die out. My father did not have the privilege of holding his son when he came out of the womb. He was busy saving our cherished world for all of us.

In my second book, Homey’s Adventures Too, I tell you one of the main reasons I fell in love with Xena was because she gave birth to her daughter even though her husband divorced her because he did not want a child. Having a child is one of the most precious gifts that God gives us! I suggest he was not only condemning himself, but also potentially condemning his daughter.

In Mathew chapter 15, Jesus talks about honoring our father and mother:

Then some Pharisees and teachers of the law came to Jesus from Jerusalem and asked, 2 “Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? They don’t wash their hands before they eat!” 3 Jesus replied, “And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition? 4 For God said, ‘Honor your father and mother and ‘Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death. 5 But you say that if anyone declares that what might have been used to help their father or mother is ‘devoted to God,’ 6 they are not to ‘honor their father or mother’ with it. Thus, you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition. 7 You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you:

8 “‘These people honor me with their lips,
    but their hearts are far from me.
9 They worship me in vain;
    their teachings are merely human rules.”

In the time of Jesus, the scribes and Pharisees allowed a person to ignore the 5th commandment if they gave enough money to the temple. Jesus was telling the scribes and Pharisees that they were condemning to death those who don’t honor their father and mother.

I hope and pray that Xena’s daughter, Marie can find it in her heart to forgive and honor her father. God wants to forgive all who transgress against us, and he wants us to honor our father and mother.

So, my conclusion for this coming Father’s Day is not only is fatherhood one of God’s greatest gifts. It is also a day we need to honor all our fathers including God, the father of humanity. I honor my father with this book, and I share this with you my reader because I want to love you and all of God’s children who cross my path.
